A Car for.Meditation?

Many people use their car for the transport of goods and passengers.... I would like to share another application!  I believe achieving a pleasurable drive can provide a great moment of inner calm and euphoria ;-) Driving for myself over 800.000kms of "road trips" I have encountered this spontaneous pleasure of "meditative wheeling"!  The "Drive Recipe" is simply the following...... A Combination of ..... Being immersed in forward movement Visual stimulation The melodic aounds of the tires & motor  Plus! The occasional adrenaline jolt! Forced Air = Forced Breath?

Hello this is a personal experience that I wish to share regarding the heating systems that can be found across the United States. .    These are forced air ducts normally found in the floors and receiving their heat element usually from a gas boiler.  The subject is that these ducts and heaters have to be cleaned!  Otherwise many people like myself could be suffering needlessly a dust cloud of allergens in their own home or living space!!       As a result of this experience I am almost a month now with both nostrils blocked!  Making yoga, meditation, on-line classes and Pranayama almost impossible!        Typically the yogic method of a Shatkarma called Netti using a warm water solution in a pot and passing through the nostrilsl a stream of water is generally a very good solution!  In my case I have added hot showers with a forward bend to fill the nose, plus on the mat seated in Thunderbolt, Padhasana with the hands under the armpits (thumbs out and upwards) for many min

Meditation Plate Share

This is a very personal share that perhaps can be understood by many without even mentioning.  In any case I felt inspired as I am taking a Tantra Course and one of the first lectures elaborates on the need to have a meditation space and 5 items as an offering for the deities that one is guiding their thoughts to!   The suggested practice includes, water, candles, flowers, sandal paste, incense & fruit.  I believe it is acceptable practice to amplify the focus by including additional items that augement a strong emotional centering.  Therefore on my plate I have added 2 Buddha's with the corresponding coins which are customary, plus the cup with the water has a faded but raised lettering of the number "13" which has always been a positive numeration for me.  Then there is the very first shoe my son wore, a photo of skateboarding and a photo of Yoginanda a person whom I highly respect and is author of  "Autobiography of a Yogi".   This blog entry

Celibacy or Imperminance?

Celibacy or Imperminance? Which is easier? Unbeknownst to me I have fallen onto the yogic path of celibacy more than a year ago! This experience has lead me to make some interesting observations which I have decided to share here in this Blog entry today!  Basically for myself I can now understand the focus of Brahamayana or sublimation of sexual energy for spiritual pursuits!  It is not just the energy that dissaptes the moment that an orgasim occurs! ... But rather it is my belief the savings of mental stanima by avoiding the repitious cycle of unaccepted impermanence between couples!  What happens many times is the intimate pleasure between two persons can instill a desire or "greed" to keep this pleasure somehow for ourselves!  Hence why partners become obsessive or jealous which are in my opinion two of the most destructive emotions that corse through the veins of mankind!  Hence it is almost "easier" to avoid the entire subject and.all.of the juxta

Bandhas in Yoga Practice are used to unblock the free flow of Prana (energy) along the Sushumna Nadi. Tantric Beginnings

Over 24 years ago in the previous century!! My first foray into the world of Yoga was a very exciting and adrenaline charged spiritual experience!  For purposes of a Yogic CV I generally mention that Power Yoga with Mark.Blanchard in Studio.City was my first yoga experience.  But now that time has passed I look back fondly on the gift of knowledge and life changing experience that crossed my path shortly beforehand!  It was in 1999 in Hollywood that I met a performance artist who helped me delve into the powers that can be shared between two beings with a unified consecration to a higher plane of psyche.  Surprisingly in retrospect the mantras, rituals, mandalas.and thought process behind Tantra I assimilated and enjoyed right from the outset!  Since this brief but impactive year of my life I have only sought out the Yoga Asanas and meditation practices.  As I felt I needed a deeper basis and more fundamental training before reinitiating into Tantric practices and teachings

Material Freedom

A close friend of mine Leslie once said to me ..... "I am so happy to be "broke"!! This means I have no money and I feel free!....." This statement to me in its moment that I heard it over 20 years ago I grasped mildly and understood.  But now with passing of time and life experience I herald this observation as being a Sage Truth!   We enter this world with nothing...we leave this physical body with nothing.... So to go through life in the same state with objectives beyond the material such as teaching, coexistence in harmony and spiritual objectives are actually attainable ideals.  One just has to be open to the possibilities and choose to avoid the illusions of material pursuits.  An object or item precious to us or others is not capable of taking us beyond a momentary lustre of contentment.  Knowing oneself and finding inner happines with one's connectedness and coexistence with the universe requires no currency just a beautiful internal journey. Leading a Class With Eyes Wide Shut?

Students many times at the beginning of a class ask what style of Yoga we will practice.  My most sincere answer would be "improvisational" based on what I see as everyone's abilities and needs for that practice in the moment!  Although many time to not overly complicate introductions I will say a blend of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga without a "planned sequence".   Now if I were to tell new students I also.occassionally get very experimental and lead an entire class with the Eyes Closed!! ?Why?? Well it has a method of working for me... I use this for very simple seated mat practices more restorative yoga style and I listen carefully to each student's breath as we transition between asanas or when holding a posture for some minutes to know when they are ready for the counter pose.  Truly speaking nobody ever suggested this to me but it has had very successful outcomes for example a wife brought her husband for his very first yoga class with me and by th
